Copywriter job opportunities in London

I've come across a great find for all of you actively looking for a copywriter job in and around London.

Copywriting is not a 9 to 5 type of job so be aware that this opportunity is not for everyone. You might have bright ideas but after all, it is about sending the right message to the right people.

Show-off your creative spirit

If you are one of those people who look up at the clouds and sees flying elephants and white-cotton jelly-beans that you can put it in words that can sell, then you're in the right place. Creativeness cannot be bought or sold, it can only be improved. Either you have it, or you don't.

Say NO! to the phrase 'I am bored'

Do you find yourself being bored? In this case the big red signs sais 'no-no!'. There is no such thing as a copywriter who complains that he or she is bored. Keep your mind creative and skillful. Read, learn, exercise your creative brain at all times.

Keep an open mind

If you have any sorts of personal views that might corrupt you from a certain project, think again before applying. I remember a story about a teacher who, each time he entered the class, would touch the side of the wall next to the door with his palm. After the class would end, he would touch it again. Even though at first it seemed as a bad sign of OCD, when the children asked why he is doing so, he was actually letting his worries and personal problems at the door, whenever he entered the classroom. And taking them back as he left. So try not to let your personal beliefs interfere with your job.

Being able to relate to others

Look around you. What do you think of the people surrounding you? Think it through and try making an overall view on the various amount of people and their personalities, especially when you have to deal with difficult clients.

Great communication skills

Don't seclude yourself from the rest of the world. Sure, ideas can be stolen, slogans can be changed and people might get upset. But always try to have a balanced view of the people around you and constantly work on your communication skills (also known as people skills). Some might be great at math but they completely lack social skills. Good communication skills can get you a long way.

Teamwork oriented

Working in a team is not everyone's cup of tea. As a copywriter, working with the design team, the senior copywriter, the editors, the proof-readers and so on, is a definite must. Unless you work on your own. Being part of a team will give you that great feeling of being part of something great. When submitting a project as a team, think of the glorious slowmotion walk of a group of astronauts successfully landing back on Earth.

Do not forget about your portfolio

Displaying your works in a web copywriting portfolio is of the essence. Either screenshots of your work or papers to where it appeared are an important way to make a statement and to stand out from the rest of the contestants. It's all in the packaging. Try adding finished projects to your portfolio.
