Ode to the notebook - Saving ideas one by one

When creativity strikes you in the middle of the night, you have three options for immortalizing your idea.
  • First option is simply going back to sleep, hoping that when you get up feeling refreshed, you will remember your Eureka thought (usually prompt to fail).
  • Second option – you reach for your smartphone, unlocking the screen with one eye open, opening your preferred note type app and trying to type in your thoughts one letter at a time. By this time, you probably forgot your idea anyway. High's as low's of the tech world, ey.
  • Third options (and my personal favorite) is the good old pen and paper. Nothing beats writing your ideas of an article, design or the next super-comfy chair model on a piece of paper.
moleskine-notebook-limited-editionI got a Moleskine notebook about two years ago from Amazon. Apart from the fact that they have a stylish design, the quality of the paper is acid-free and environmentally friendly (for all you Eco-freaks). And I got a free mini-poster of the original 'Star Wars: A New Hope' theatrical poster to go with it. Moleskine's notebook collections are well designed with an elastic band, an internal pocket and a fabric bookmark.

The company makes everything from simple coloured to limited edition notebooks (such as The Hobbit, Star Wars or Lego), bags and pencils. And tickety-boo, they also let your customize and submit your own works on their website. I sure like customisation! Well, that sounded cheesy but it's oh so true!

So apart from your smartphone, tablet, graphics pad and pencil, or those pesky post-its, having a notebook in hand can save you in various situations of everyday life. Except a T-Rex attack… There's no escaping that.

Where do you write down your ideas?
